Worship

Worship LogoWe gather for worship every Sunday to praise God for his Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. We celebrate special times throughout the year with worship services to mark the occasions. Worship is the opportunity for the community to gather to pray, sing; hear the word of God from scripture and through a sermon, and to participate in the sacraments of the church. Saint Aidan’s follows the worship services for the Episcopal Church in the Book of Common Prayer.

Altar Guild: The Altar Guild is a very important group of people who serve the church by preparing the Altar and the church for worship. After worship concludes they make sure everything is cleaned and put away. This is a vital ministry to the worship life of the church.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers: Persons who are baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church may volunteer to be Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM’s). LEM’s assist in the worship services in many ways but primarily in distributing the bread and wine of Holy Eucharist.

Lector: If you like public speaking and reading, then this a job for you! Lectors read the Old Testament and New Testament Lessons, lead the reading of the Psalm, and lead the praying of Prayers of the People during our worship services.

Acolyte: Acolytes are Middle and High School Youth who assist with the worship service by carrying the cross, torches, and Gospel Book in the processions as well as assisting the Priest in setting the Altar.

Junior Acolyte: Junior Acolytes are second through fifth grade children who assist the Children’s Chapel Leaders in Children’s Chapel. The Junior Acolyte carries the Children’s Cross, leads the procession to Children’s Chapel, and collects the offering in Children’s Chapel then presents it in church.

Usher/Greeter: The Ushers and Greeters make sure our Welcome Center is ready to go every Sunday and welcome guests as they enter. The ushers and greeters also assist people in knowing where to go for communion. They collect the offering, and are available to help make the worship experience enjoyable.

Music Team: This is a group of musicians and singers who practice every week to lead our worship music for us.

Sound and Video Technology Team: If you know how to run a computer or a sound board we need you. This team manages our sound quality and image quality for all our services. People who are knowledgeable about running a computer and/or sound board are vital to this team.
